In case you’re wondering, the name “chaffle” comes from the combination of the words “cheese” and “waffle.” Because who knew you could make the most delicious, low-carb waffles—and a perfect low-carb breakfast—out of CHEESE?

Not only that, it’s basically the easiest, fastest recipe on the planet—just 3 simple ingredients—and comes together in five minutes flat. It’s definitely our go-to solution for busy nights when we’re short on time (and don’t really feel like cooking).

The best part about chaffles is their versatility—you can serve them savory or sweet, in all sorts of different ways. Our favorite is still the classic, though—butter and syrup!

Enjoy them for breakfast with Magic low-carb avocado toast for a filling breakfast – or breakfast for dinner.

Tips For Low-Carb Waffles

Follow these tips and you’ll have the best-tasting low-carb waffles!

  • Add toppings. They are still tasty alone, but you’ll enjoy them as much as waffles from your childhood when you add low-carb toppings.
  • Use fresh mozzarella. Grate your mozzarella at home. Bagged grated mozzarella cheese doesn’t taste as delicious and has added ingredients to prevent caking in the bag.
  • Preheat the waffle iron. Make sure it is hot before you add the batter.
  • Use a mini waffle maker. Larger waffle irons don’t work nearly as well with this batter.

  1. How do you make these with coconut flour? My son is allergic to tree nuts. Thank you!

    1. Annie Kearns says:

      Hi Jodie,
In order to make them with coconut flour, you’ll have to add baking powder. Just replace the almond flour with coconut flour and add 1/4 a teaspoon of baking powder. There are more carbs in coconut flour, so you’ll have to recalculate your macros for this recipe.

These are amazing! They have been a lifesaver with the lack of bread—and they’re ridiculously quick to make. I use this recipe more than any other I’ve found on the site!

  3. Would these work with a mini pancake maker?

    1. We can’t say for sure as that is not something we have tested. It may! But we can’t say for sure.
